Please help your child to remember to have their reading log and Thursday folder signed on Thursday night.  I am asking for a minimum of 180 minutes of reading per week.  The week starts on Friday with the last night to read for the goal on Thursday.  I do this so that they can have the Thursday folder and reading log signed on the same night. I give them a reading log to record the amount of time they read.  I will teach them to plan ahead and read on nights that is good for them.  For example, if they have synchronized basket weaving for 3 hours on Mondays and Wednesdays, then those days may be too busy.  I have decided to count the log for a weekly reading grade, as the kids have begged me to. 

Please talk to them about what they are reading, and try to find the time to have them read to you.  You can also read to them occasionally, especially if a book is long.  The more interest you show, the more they will benefit.  Thank you for sharing your children with me!
